Frau SandyDerry teenager Donal Sweeney (photo by Robin Cordiner) - performing as Frau Sandy - won the recent Coca-Cola Blastbeat Northern Ireland National Final at the Limelight on Saturday, April 26. Sweeney, a 16-year-old student at Lumen Christi College, was helped by Disco Robots, a music promotion company formed by 5th year students from St Columb’s College, Co Londonderry. According to reports, Frau Sandy put on quite a show at the Limelight, wowing the capacity crowd with his innovative blend of electro-pop created and played on his Game Boy console. Sweeney now heads to the play-offs in Dublin on May 17 with the chance to win a Blastspace record deal. Coca-Cola Brand Manager Fiona Sweeney, said: “I am extremely impressed by the talent and commitment demonstrated by all participants and performers in Northern Ireland.
