Fra Donaghy: Invitation to download

Francis DonaghyInvitation is the title of the 6th in a series of self-produced CD albums from prolific singer-songwriter Fra Donaghy. Available via free digital download, all 10 tracks are performed by 28-year-old Fra, and written by him, except “Torture Again“, which was co-written with longterm collaborator Deane Morrone, and two cover versions. Invitation is Fra’s first all-digital independent album: up until his last, International Drama, Belfast based Fra distributed physical CD copies among friends or at open mics. Fra says that the free download model reflects current trends in the music business, with many consumers preferring to download music than buy a physical CD. However, this release does not compromise on sound quality, with the MP3 encoded tracks available in 320-kbps and 192-kbps formats - both formats sounding better to the average listener than the 128kbps standard on music sites such as iTunes.

    i’ve been lucky enough to hear just about all of fra’s music which is about the best indie acoustic music i’ve heard online. prolific is a good term to describes fra’s sometimes wrenching and at other times tongue-in-cheek lyrics - always intelligent and with emotional tug. fra is one of today’s up and comers and i encourage everyone to download and enjoy Invitation.

    I, too, have been a fan of Fra’s for quite a while now, and one thing I can promise you about his music– it is always beautiful, professional yet intimate. And his love for music always shows through. Download it and enjoy it– for years to come. Fra is not a fad, he’s an artist, and a great one!
