Paul Casey: Blow Away the Clouds
March 12, 2008 |
Rena Maguire writes: We all know the moment in all US teen series: the sob-story ending, the moment when the wistful hero/heroine is leaving, against the raindrops on the window of the Greyhound bus which takes them to who-knows-where, and the music used is always something soft, lyrical and eminently chart-worthy, though usually by some previously unknown artist who has impeccable indie credientials. The band is usually from California, Seattle, somewhere equally wistful as the fictional hero/heroine. You don’t expect that artist to be from Derry.
Paul Casey, who at a scarily tender age has already played with the likes of Chris Rea, Brian Kennedy and Cara Dillon, has just had 3 songs picked up from his album “Slow Water“, by US teen hit series Wildfire. It’s a show akin to Dawsons Creek or The OC, and seems set for cult teen status, as does presumably the fresh faced Paul Casey. Casey’s new album is receiving accolades from the US music scene; called Blow Away the Clouds its been mentored by Chris Rea, who has taken the Derry boy under his wing somewhat. Blow Away the Clouds, like all of Paul’s albums, is available from either iTunes or his website: www.paulcaseymusic.com
