EKOBangor-based musical instrument consultancy IBC Trading - http://www.ibctrading.com - has secured a contract with Italian guitar design company Eko worth more than £1 million over the next three years. IBC Trading specialises in product design, sourcing, sales and marketing consultancy for the global musical instrument sector. The new contract means that IBC Trading will provide services to Eko, the Italian guitar company seeking to revive its brand. IBC Trading will begin promoting Eko guitars later this month at an international tradeshow in America - the NAMM Show 2008 (Anaheim, California) January 17-20. IBC Trading sources guitar products from around the world, and it identified high quality guitar manufacturers in China during a recent trade mission to the region. IBC Trading introduced Eko to its suppliers, a meeting which resulted in IBC Trading securing the contract. IBC Trading will now manage the processes from guitar manufacture through to worldwide sales distribution on behalf of Eko.

Iain Wilson, Managing Director of IBC Trading, said: “Following a review of Eko’s existing suppliers and products, it was recognised that higher quality guitars were needed to satisfy certain markets, and the Chinese manufacturers met the high standards set by the company. IBC Trading will now oversee procedures such as quality control and transportation of the guitars from China to Italy, before ensuring that they are effectively promoted in target markets such as Japan, Germany and the USA.”

In 1959, Oliviero Pigini founded EKO which, within a few years, became the biggest guitar producer in Europe. Eko guitars, well known and appreciated all over the world, are still considered by many amongst “the most beautiful guitars in the world” for their original style. Due to the excellent quality/price ratio, entire generations of young have discovered music, and many professional musicians have played on EKO guitars in the past and are still doing so due to the guitars’ performances.

Today in 2007, EKO is back with a new and wide variety of guitars, which will surprise for the accuracy within their building, for their excellent quality/price ratio, and for their look in typical “EKO style”.
