Astral Weeks reloaded
January 4, 2008 |
The year 2008 marks the 40th anniversary of the Van Morrison “all-time classic” album, Astral Weeks. This landmark recording - a mixture of jazz and soul and Celtic lyricism - includes tracks such as Cyprus Avenue, Madame George and Beside You. With this in mind, a series of Ulster music makers will play the album in sequence at two special concerts on Saturday, January 5. Confirmed performers include Foy Vance, Bap Kennedy, The Four Of Us, The Winding Stair and Tom McShane. Other special guests will be announced later. Music journalist Stuart Bailie will open the event with a talk about the record’s inception and will introduce each track. Two performances on Saturday Jan 5, 2008: Live at the Black Box, Belfast, 2pm; and Live at the Oh Yeah building, Belfast, 8pm. Tickets £10 from http://www.cqaf.com or +44 (0)2890 23 2403
