Belfast Music SocietyThe launch of the 2008 International Festival of Chamber Music takes place at Direct Wine Shipments, Belfast on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at 7.30pm. (Entrance is by invitation only and tickets will be issued on a first come, first served basis: see http://www.belfastmusicsociety.org/launch.html). Following a drinks reception, the Apple Hill Chamber Players from New Hampshire, USA will play a programme of Beethoven, Schubert and Ravel; after which there will be an opportunity to sample wines specially selected for us by Direct Wine Shipments. The evening is jointly sponsored by Direct Wine Shipments and Tesco NI. The Festival takes place on 25, 26 and 27 January 2008. Belfast Music Society was formed in 1921, beginning life as a branch of the British Music Society. Although not originally a concert-promoting body, more an organising, co-ordinating, and educative body, it now serves to promote the knowledge and appreciation of chamber music, through the organisation and presentation of recitals.
