Radio 2BBC Radio 2 and the British Academy of Composers & Songwriters (BACS) are running a competition to give aspiring new songwriters their big break. Like Ulster’s 20th century pop-song svengali Jimmy Kennedy, do you have what it takes to pen a chart-topping tune or two? The 60 finalists attend a 2-day masterclass where they can learn about the music business, technology and the craft of songwriting with professionals and industry luminaries. Then, four winners, chosen from the masterclass, will get the opportunity to be mentored and work on original material with chart-topping songwriters. To enter, you must be 19 years old or more and must not be in an active publishing agreement. Upload your mp3 song - no more than 3 minutes in duration - and submit the on-line entry form, or print and complete the entry form and post along with your song on CD to:

BBC Radio 2 New Songwriters Academy
Room 7003, Television Centre, Wood Lane
London W12 7RJ

Read the FAQ about the scheme. The entered song must be unpublished.
