Barry DouglasParis-based Ulster-born concert pianist Barry Douglas (pictured) founded Camerata Ireland in 1999 as chamber orchestra of Irish musicians “on a mission to match the best in the world“. Through touring the Americas, China and Europe, Camerata has developed a reputation for excellence and for creating a distinctive Irish string sound. In 2004, President of Ireland Mary McAleese and Queen Elizabeth II [DJ moniker? - ed] became joint patrons of Camerata Ireland, testament to Camerata’s pan-Ireland commitment and “…to its determination to create opportunity for the very best young Irish musicians“. Camerata Ireland has announced the second of three CD recordings, encompassing all five Beethoven piano concertos: this latest CD includes piano concerto No. 1 in C and No. 5 (The Emperor) in E flat.
