SONY to end its Sony Connect service for music digital downloads in its own compression format known as ATRAC.SONY is set to close its on-line music store, Sony Connect. The Japanese firm’s efforts to sell music files through the store in its ATRAC format has, by and large, been a flop as formats such as mp3 have proved massively popular - while struggling against the mighty iTunes. The plug is pulled on Connect in March 2008.
