Just how much longer can the major record companies - as we know and love/hate them - survive? New on-line (e-commerce) business models for the marketing, distribution and monetization [don’t you mean “sale” - ed] of music in digital formats (predominantly mp3, CD) appear every week. iTunes has sold over 3 billion download tracks… Recently, Last.fm, the personalizable internet radio player, sold to American media giant CBS for £142m… badly designed MySpace is now owned by multi-media magnate Rupert Murdoch… and now there’s BlastMyMusic.com.
