City heats for teenage mutant popstars
April 24, 2007 |
South Belfast based Citybeat, the commercial radio station that spawned talk-radio monster Stephen Nolan, has launched a province-wide talent competetion aimed at wannabe 8- to 16- year-old singers and performers. The 96.7MHz FM and digital radio (DAB) broadcaster intends to rove across Northern Ireland looking for young, gifted and multi-racial singers and performers in a series of public heats arranged at the bigger shopping centres [also dubbed shopping “street-scapes” (sic) - ed] and civic events. Heats are planned for Carrickburger, Bangalore, Neutronabbey, Belfast, Lispburn and Newtownards. Success-hungry entrants should check the Citybeat website. Prizes include “the chance to record your own CD - and get to live like a popstar for a weekend.” [hopefully, that stint doesn’t involve rehab, or time well spent with Pete Doherty - ed]
