TOM MCSHANE is a musician from Northern Ireland. His first releases, the lo-fi, home recorded "Songs Are Sad" and the follow-up album, "Departures" have attracted critical acclaim. Co-produced by Oppenheimer's Rocky O'Reilly, the bejeweled and brassy "Fighter" represents the latest peak of Tom's compositional powers. As well as drawing on the lo-fi influence of Smog, Nick Drake and Mount Eerie, the mood also calls to mind the dark tone of one of Tom's biggest heroes: Charles Mingus.
